מחסומי אש הינם מרכיב חיוני המחויב ביישום, על פי התקינה הישראלית, כחלק אינטגרלי של מערכות מיגון האש הפאסיבי. מחסומים אלו מותקנים בכל הנקודות בהן ישנם פתחים או תפרים אורכיים בקירות ותקרות האש. תפקידם הוא להחזיר את עמידות ואטימות הקירות למעבר אש ועשן, כאילו שלא נפתחו בהם כלל פתחים.
המטרה:
מחסומי האש מיועדים למנוע מעבר אש, גזים רעילים ועשן דרך פתחים בקירות ותקרות בהם חודרות מערכות אלקטרו מכניות או שהם תפרים מבניים. מטרתם לאפשר לאוכלוסיית המבנה להמלט ממנו בבטחה, להגן על חיי אדם, לאפשר לכוחות הכיבוי וההצלה לחדור למבנה באופן בטוח בכדי לחלץ ממנו נפגעים ובמקביל לשמור על הקניין הרוחני והרכוש הקיימים במבנה.
השיטה:
מחסומי האש יתוכננו ויותקנו בקירות ובתקרות עמידי האש ויאטמו אותם לחלוטין. זמן עמידות האש של המחסום זהה לזמן עמידות האש של הקיר או התקרה בו הם מותקנים. המחסומים עשויים מחומרים בלתי דליקים כגון: צמר סלעים, מסטיקים אבלטיביים (בולעי חום) או אינטומסנטיים (תופחים בחום), קולרי מתכת או שרוולים ורצועות. כלל הפתרונות נבדקים תמיד בשרפה בתנור כחלק ממערכת מושלמת, בכדי להוכיח את יכולת תפקודם, טרם התקנתם במבנה.
תקנים מחייבים:
התקנת כלל מחסומי האש במבנה מסוים, תתוכנן מבעוד מועד, תוגש לאישור, תאושר תותקן ותבדק התקנתה על ידי מבדקה מוסמכת לכך. הכל יבוצע בהתאמה להנחיות תקן ישראלי 2174.

In ceilings and walls – according to American standard UL 1479-94
or the American standard ASTM E814
or British Standard BS 476-20
or the European standard EN 1366-3.
In the walls – in addition to the devices mentioned above, you can also choose the Israeli standard TI 931 Part 2
